WELCOME TO NISIÁ
<νησιά - the Greek word for islands>
Imagine you're at a spa off the coast of Greece in the Dodecanese Islands. Now, welcome to our own little Greek corner right here in North America - Tarpon Springs, Florida, the sponge capital of the world.
Sponge diving is a part of Greece's ancient history, along with sponge bathing rituals and a booming trade business. Centuries later, in the early 1900's, sponge beds were discovered in the Gulf off the coast of Florida, attracting more and more Greek immigrants to the area. The Tarpon Springs Greektown Historic District and Sponge Docks have since become a worthy destination for tourism in Florida.
nisiá sponges are harvested carefully and sustainably by Tarpon Spring's famous sponge divers. Select sponges, like The Face Sponge, are imported from the Greek Islands as their gentle qualities are unique to the Mediterranean Sea.
nisiá sponges are toxin-free, biodegradable, anti-bacterial, natural and sustainably harvested.
